The wildly romantic Ahr Valley, with its separate cycling trail next to the river Ahr and the train tracks is impressive: at turns steep and jaggedly rising, sometimes gentle and sometimes hilly, wandering through timber forest and then again through vineyards, past fields, mountain ruins, and winegrowers’ farms.
A diverse setting and a charming area for those who wish to experience the atmosphere of nature as well as sports. The steep slopes are a challenge for mountain bikers, and at higher elevation cyclists can let their minds wander. Numerous tours along the Ahr Valley are a must for all mountain biking enthusiasts.
For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, you can always let your bike roll downhill on the almost flat bicycle trail along the Ahr River and the railroad tracks. Along the way you’ll have the opportunity for a little break at Straußenwirtschaft or Buschenschank. You can take very comfortable, modern trains back to the Jägerstübchen hotel in Mayschoss.
There are over 1000 kilometers of marked biking trails in the Ahr Rhein Eifel region. Among them is the 225 kilometer long “King’s Route”: the Ahr Biking Trail (
Ahr-Radweg) with connection to the Eifel and Rhine-Moselle network of trails.
