Discover the Ahr Valley
Among the many thrills and charms fo the landscape are the wild, romantic course of the Ahr river, which meanders through often bizarre rock formations and steeply ascending terraced vineyards.
Wine Culture
The Ahr wine region is the largest contiguous red wine producing region in Germany with an area of around 540 hectares. Many small and larger wine regions thread the Ahr from the headwaters to the mouth. These include your holiday spot Mayschoß under the picturesque ruins of the Saffenburg.
Still better known to most holiday visitors are the towns that have the river "Ahr" mentioned in their names: Altenahr and Ahrweiler as well as the spa town Bad Neuenahr.
Smaller winegrowing towns are also worthwhile as stops along the way: Along with Mayschoß, you will find Rech, Dernau, Marienthal and Walporzheim waiting for you to discover them. And last but not least the small spa town of Bad Bodendorft as the "Gateway to the Ahr Valley" near the mouth of the Ahr.
